Alzheimer’s Association and Mayo Clinic – Meeting of the Minds – The MVP Program

 In Brain Injuries, Concussions

I had the privilege of speaking to a group of more than 1,100 people at this year’s Meeting of the Minds conference at the Saint Paul RiverCentre. This event is a high-impact partnership between the Mayo Clinic and the Alzheimer’s Association. The focus of the conference was on dementia and the audience was filled with physicians, nurses, care takers, and even those diagnosed with dementia. I was moved by the incredible passion of everyone in attendance to focus on the improvement of care to those who have been diagnosed with the brain disease, along with how to better support the people who are caring for them.

I had the opportunity to share my MVP story about Mind, Value, and Purpose through the lens of my experience with concussions and memory loss. My hope was to emotionally connect people to the importance of their mind and memories by helping them realize that the one thing that provides relevance in our lives is our memories. For what has relevance if you can’t remember it? The beauty in this realization is that it can inspire an individual to seize every moment for how valuable it truly is, because it is a memory. If you choose to live this way, you will find more purpose in you life and it will give you significance! How differently would you live your life if you knew the day you would lose your memories? That question has forever changed my life and the way I choose to live it!
