Wow!! I can’t explain how humbled I was to be in Philadelphia last week with the greatest Neurological minds in the world. Last Wednesday I accepted the American Academy of Neurology and the American Brain Foundations PLINA award. The Public Leadership In Neurology Award goes to an individual who goes above and beyond in advocacy for brain health and the fight against brain disease. After my NFL career came to a screeching halt do to multiple Traumatic Brain Injuries I couldn’t help but be enraptured into the world of Neurology and the importance of raising funds for research to cure brain disease. I am convinced that making an emotional connecting for people to neurology is essential in their understanding and becoming more sensitive to brain health. More than ever, after seeing the passion pouring out of the 17,000 neurologists to find the cures for brain disease I find myself moved make this a mission. The American Academy of Neurology’s annual conference was a life changing experience for me, and it’s just the beginning!
